Alessandro Bastoni, the 23-year-old Italian central defender, is said to be a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with Inter reported to be unwilling to accept anything below 51 million pounds to sanction the sale of the player who has two years remaining on his current deal.
Manchester United have reportedly shown interest in Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, United and Tottenham are two clubs keen on signing the highly-rated centre back.
Some rumours are arising
Some rumours are coming from Italy that Alessandro Bastoni has told Inter he wants to join Tottenham to link up with former manager Antonio Conte.
Spurs have already taken Ivan Perisic for free from San Siro and want to bolster their options in central defence with a move for Italy international Bastoni.
The centre-back’s desire to reunite with Conte has seen him inform the Nerazzurri of his desire to leave. Bastoni played under Conte when Inter won the 2020/21 Serie A title and has since enhanced his reputation with another excellent league campaign.
Bastoni would compete for a spot in Tottenham’s back three, which has incorporated Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies in a settled defence since Conte’s arrival.
Inter are now reluctantly willing to enter talks over a transfer and have plans to bolster their own defence if Bastoni leaves.
The Serie A side are in talks with Torino over a move for Brazilian defender Bremer, who has impressed since moving to Italy in 2018, while they’re also planning a new contract for Milan Skriniar, who has made over 200 appearances in all competitions for the club.
The 23-year-old is an integral part of Simone Inzaghi’s Inter side that marginally missed out on the Serie A title to rivals AC Milan.
The Italian was at the crux of Inter’s backline, alongside Stevan De Vrij and Milan Skriniar in a back-three.
The absence of Champions League football at Old Trafford could lean him towards a move to Tottenham.
If a deal with Spurs falls through, then, United must be quick to act and secure one of the best young centre backs across Europe.
His agent’s words:
Bastoni was in England earlier last week as part of the Italian squad’s –UEFA Cup of Champions showpiece against Argentina at Wembley.
“He is certainly a big fan of the team he plays for, so he will happily remain at Inter,” His agent Tullio Tinti said to the Italian media.
“However, he is also a professional. This is football, and he has to adjust. It’s clear he is very happy to play for Inter and feels this jersey like a tattoo on his skin.”
