The Italian national championship has become one of Europe’s most interesting domestic competitions over the past few years. The quality of the teams, as well as the intensity and the excitement of the league games, have significantly improved following a period of mediocre football in Italy.
The upcoming campaign should be even better than the previous few, with the teams having a lively and active summer transfer window. Analysts in charge of the Serie A predictions can’t tell which club is the biggest favorite for the title because several of them will chase Scudetto.
All those teams have strengthened their squads, and we will present the biggest signings in Calcio this summer.
Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian was arguably the best striker in Europe while playing for Inter. He scored 64 goals in 95 games, with 16 more assists, establishing himself as the deadliest player in Italy and further. During the 2020/21 year, Lukaku won the Serie A MVP award and was named the UEFA Europa League Player of the Season, earning the Ballon d’Or nomination.
However, his transfer to Chelsea didn’t suit the robust forward well, and he got back to Milan after one year in London. This is a loan deal, but with a clause that it might be extended for a year more, or eventually bought off.
With him upfront, Inter will chase the title once again, and we need to remind you that Lukaku played a vital role in Inter’s Scudetto quest in 2021.
Paulo Dybala
This is without a doubt, the transfer that shook Italy. It isn’t often seen that one superstar leaves Juventus and goes to Roma, which is precisely what happened in this case. The Argentinian forward accepted Jose Mourinho’s challenge and will lead Il Lupi towards another trophy. The team from the Italian capital won the Europa Conference League the previous year, and Mourinho and Dybala want to add at least one more piece of silverware to its collection this year. Serie A predictions today aren’t favoring Il Lupi, but that doesn’t mean anything with the Special One on the bench.
The 28-year-old will be the unit leader on the field and be in perfect shape before the start of the World Cup. Dybala didn’t have a good relationship with the Old Lady and its coaching staff in the recent two years, often sitting on the bench or adjusting to specific needs, not being able to play his game. Under Mourinho, that is going to change.
Paul Pogba
The French international also realized it was in his best interest to move back to Italy and ran away from England. One of the best midfielders in the world didn’t meet the expectations at Old Trafford and left United as one of the biggest busts ever. The logical thing for Pogba was to return to where he became one of the global superstars.
Though, his comeback didn’t start well, due to a meniscus injury that would separate the French midfielder from the field over the next eight to ten weeks.
Angel Di Maria
Another Argentinian is on our list. The fantastic winger, and one of the most underrated players of the era, landed at Allianz Stadium in Turin, ready to give the last few years of his prime to the Old Lady and attack all the possible trophies with her.
Di Maria’s potential and talent were often inhibited in PSG, where he had to share the minutes and the ball with megastars like Messi, Mbape or Neymar. The sad truth is that his contribution on the pitch was the same or better than these guys, but the marketing reasons favored the other three players.
We don’t need to say anything about the quality of this guy. With all due respect to Messi, both he and Di Maria lead the Argentinian national team equally, and that tells a lot. Also, he is one of the most popular fantasy Serie A picks of all the players.
The transfer window is still on in Italy, and unless some major surprise happens and some big fish lands in Serie A, these four transfers will be the biggest this summer.
